About

I am Dubrow, AKA Chris Dubrow.

I was the singer with Australian bands iNsuRge, Soulscraper, and Blackbreaks, but this project is my solo debut.

At the start of 2020 we decided to move away from the Blue Mountains bushfire crisis in NSW, after endless weeks of harsh smoke, raining ash and smoldering leaves. We moved straight into the full-scale (necessary) Melbourne COVID lockdowns. So it’s been a colourful period. However, the lockdown meant i had a little more composition time on my hands and the result is this, the completion of my first solo musical project.

I like layering noise, beats, synths, and distortion, and have also been enjoying learning about machine created orchestration. I like technology, but blended with a touch of humanity.

I also began experimenting with video for filmclips and live performance, combining elements of generative art such as feedback loops and ascii filtering. I have been learning Touchdesigner and Blender, and have built a custom system to midi trigger live video from Ableton Live.

This music is also political, because all good music is.

We either sing for the revolution, or sing for all the things to stay the same.
